Bank distress in Nigeria has reached a crisis point that it has become a key issue for discussion of all within and outside the banking industry. It is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most serious issues facing our society today. In 1993, it was discovered and reported that out of 116 (one hundred and sixteen) banks in Nigeria 57 (fifty seven) of them were distressed on average of 48%. This has affected the depositions, the industry, that is the banking industry, government and staff of the affected banks adversely.
The aim of this research work is to investigate the community banking and economic development in Agbor Community. The researcher’s used in questionnaire and personal interview in gathering responses from the respondent. The first chapter of this project deals with statement of problem, purpose of study etc. The second looks at the literature review with special emphasis on history and origin of community banks. The third chapter examines method of data collection analysis etc. The fourth chapter examines questions that was asked in chapter one. Finally chapter five deals with summary, recommendation and conclusion.
Any policy made with foresight has apprehensive objective that it tends to pursue. It is the purpose of this study therefore to: 1. Accretion the objectives and functions of community banks. 2. Determine how much of disciplined banking habit they have uncalculated among the masses of low-income workers especially those of the rural area. 3. The study will also look at the specific roles community banks play in the development of the rural communities in which they are located. 4. It will also determine if customers are satisfied with the services they received from community banks presently. 5. It also behaves this study to find out the problems and prospects of community banks.
This research seeks to pursue the following objectives. 1 To determine the effect of computerization on commercial banks high performance. 2 To determine the association between achieving the objective / benefit of electronic banking and irregular electric power supply and telecommunication services by government in Nigeria. To determine the possible solution to the problem that emanates from electronic banking that will enhance commercial banks.
