Summary
The project set out to develop a Computer Aided Learning prototype that improved on existing systems in the Key Stage 2 Mathematics domain. The aim was not to remove the teacher but to aid and bring different elements to the student’s education as well as lightening the workload of the teacher, making education the focus.
The system produced is called Maths Learn and can be found at http://www.timewastingfun.com/Project/, to access the Student area the username and
password is Student and the Teacher area, Teacher. Maths Learn was evaluated with its target users and all the project’s aims and minimum requirements were successfully met. The two further enhancements, a game to facilitate collaborative learning and input by the teacher to change the systems content, were also completed.
The following modules were useful in the successful completion of this project: GI21, SI13, IS21, SE22, GI31 and GI32. It was necessary to understand user Interface design, Human
and computer interaction principles, user personalisation and programming skills including coding in Java.
