SUMMARY
A food specification form and the data it contains are important documents in Topic Development
conducted at William Morrison Supermarkets PLC. The management process involved with these
food specifications has resulted in the identification of a need, that of a new system.
Prior research and work has demonstrated progress in the aim of developing a computerised
specification management system. The objectives of this project were to review the progress made,
identify how the work could be built on, thus allowing the redesign and production of a working
system that meets with the user requirements. In addition the conditions necessary for integration into
Morrisons needed to be ascertained.
As a result of conducting the tasks necessary to solve the problem and therefore attain the objectives
set, the project has achieved its purpose of producing a Specification Management System for
Morrisons. The project has reached a stage at which the user has felt comfortable to start trials with a
supplier.
