Summary
This project had the aim of creating an online system for the Yorkshire Quarry Arts project. They
required a website to showcase the project with the photographs and information they had acquired
throughout. This report presents the research which has been carried out to ascertain an appropriate
methodology. Matters of concern for such a project include digitisation, metadata and the technology
options. The user requirements were gathered, analysed and the needs of the system based on these
together with the research findings. In light of these the system was then designed and implemented,
and evaluated through the YQA committee, external users and against official guidelines.
The following was achieved in this project:
• Capture, analysis and evaluation of user requirements using SSADM
• Evaluation of system options based on these user requirements
• Decisions backed by research on digitisation matters, metadata fields, design layout and
functionality
• Creation of static website to display YQA information which is online at
http://www.leeds.ac.uk/yqa/orig
• Creation of database to hold YQA photographs and information, on the CD attached to report
• Creation of dynamic website to bring the two together and to make the database searchable by
any end user, also on CD
• Evaluation of the project and system created
